New The Mandalorian Trailer Footage Looks like a Blockbuster Movie

What if Sergio Leone Made a Sci-fi Movie?

Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+, is set to enter the streaming wars on November 12th with a low-cost price point, and most importantly, killer content. Fans have yearned for a live-action Star Wars series for decades, and now it’s almost here.

The Mandalorian is Lucasfilm’s first live-action series, and it’s available to Disney+ subscribers on day one. And a new The Mandalorian trailer is here to make Star Wars diehards two-week wait for Disney+ even more unbearable.

The Mandalorian trailer:

I’m excited for The Mandalorian’s gritty take on Star Wars lore. The show takes place several years after the fall of the Empire in Return of the Jedi and 25 years before the rise of The First Order. Based on the trailers, this series looks like a Sergio Leone western set in space. I’m blown away by the show’s visuals, which seem indistinguishable from blockbuster movies in the series like Rogue One. In terms of production value, The Mandalorian may be the first series to give Game of Thrones a run for its money.

But this show is about more than eye-candy; it features a host of talented people in front of and behind the camera. Disney stalwart Jon Favreau is on board as showrunner, and he’s hired a diverse cast of filmmakers to direct each episode, including Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Taika Waititi.

And does this show ever have a deep cast of talented actors. First off, the trailer receives bonus points for casting legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog to narrate. His notoriously dour voice does an excellent job setting the stage for our peek into The Mandalorian’s lawless world. The show also features Pedro Pascal as the titular Mandalorian, as well as Giancarlo Esposito, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Nick Nolte, Bill Burr, Ming-Na Wen, and Taika Waititi.

The Mandalorian synopsis:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe.  “The Mandalorian” is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm’s first-ever, live-action series, debuts exclusively on Disney+ November 12.
