Contest: See My Old Lady!

My Old Lady tells the story of Mathias Gold (Kevin Kline), a down-and-out New Yorker who travels to Paris to liquidate a huge and valuable apartment he has inherited from his estranged father. When he reaches his apartment in Paris he finds Mathilde Girard (Maggie Smith), a refined old lady living in the apartment with her daughter, Chloe (Jane Birkin). He then discovers the romantic history between Mathilde and his father, a romance that lasted over half a century.

Making his feature film directorial debut is Israel Horovitz, who also wrote the screenplay for the film. Horvitz is the most produced American playwright in French theatre history and has recently been decorated as Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettre, France’s highest honor for foreign artists. He has written over 70 plays that have been translated and performed in more than 30 languages worldwide. Horvitz has also written numerous award winning screenplays including The Strawberry Statement, which took the jury prize at Cannes in 1970, Al Pacino comedy Author! Author! and Sunshine, the winner of the 1999 European Film Award for Best Screenplay.

My Old Lady opens in theatres across Canada on Friday, October 3rd, but here’s how you can see it first. Simply email [email protected] with MY OLD LADY and YOUR CITY in the subject line!
