Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course Moves to 2020

Originally revealed one year ago, the downloadable content for Cuphead hasn’t been seen or heard from since last June. With Studio MDHR’s hit arriving on Nintendo Switch back in April, we’ve been holding our breath, hoping for some semblance of a release date. Alas, today, the studio confirmed that The Delicious Last Course won’t arrive this year, but next year.

To alleviate the sting of missing this year, the team working on the downloadable content released a teaser which showcases two of the new bosses that will make your life hell next year.

In a blog post over on Xbox Wire, Chad Moldenhauer spoke about the delay citing a healthy development cycle for the team being a part of why the DLC is now delayed. “The development of the original game taught us a great deal about the importance of making things in a way that’s healthy and sustainable for our team,” he went on to confirm. Expect a “whole bevy of screen-filling bosses, exciting weapons & charms to wallop with, and of course, a brand-new playable character…the lovely Ms. Chalice!”

Who is Ms. Chalice you ask? Well, she’s a new playable character with a distinct play style and unique abilities like a double jump, and she’s even playable in OG Cuphead. Thanks to development on Cuphead, the studio has learned a ton about animation and developed their technique, too.

So while the wait isn’t exactly what I wanted, I’m always for ensuring the development teams get the proper care they need to do their jobs correctly. Whenever this DLC launches, I’ll be ready for it!
