Joel Minty
Joel Minty is a man of many funny lists if only he could find time for the source material. As such, his articles are mostly vague memories of the '90s mixed with a fervent love of Nintendos, real-time strategy games, and Futurama. He was the host of You Guessed It! You Can't Unguess It! Futurama Trivia for two years in Toronto, where he was voted "Most Likely to be the Only Person to Host Two Years of Futurama Trivia" – a trophy he covets. Recently Joel has scored a three-book publishing deal with Realmwalker Publishing Group to produce his Imbalance epic fantasy novels. Purge of Ashes, Book One of the Imbalance, will be/was released on April 5, 2016.

Futurama Season 7: Not Sure if New Episode or an Old FavouriteLet me preface this article by stating that I am going to be discussing something which I see as a worrisome problem with recent Futurama episodes. This is coming from a major Futurama fan and current host of the You Guessed It! You Can’t Unguess It! Futurama Trivia night at the Gladstone Hotel, so it should be viewed as constructive criticism.

The North American Starcraft LeagueIn South Korea, Starcraft players have attained levels of prestige the equivalent of North American sports stars, including six-figure incomes, hordes or fans and recognition on the street. Real-time strategy has become a sport unto itself: a digital chess match that requires intense clicks-per-second and incredible observational skills. Tournament after tournament presents players going head-to-head – for cash. The prestige in North America is nonexistent by comparison, the money less and the fanbase not ready to making gaming more than a casual pastime. The North American Star League is trying to change that.

Hanna ReviewHanna is about a young girl being raised by her father in a log cabin in the sub-arctic. But as you might guess, this eponymous girl is unique: she is being trained as an assassin. Too often movies try to be more than they are – to impress with such intensity as to send them over the top – but Hanna is content to be a little piece of something elegant.

Top 10 Absurd StarCraft Campaign PromisesMeanwhile, in the world of Starcraft, recent elections to replace Emperor Arcturus Mengsk have already yielded some pretty strange promises from the campaign trail. Both candidates are now staggering as interstellar populaces search for a third party candidate who can better take care of them in a galaxy almost assuredly bent on their gruesome deaths. Collected below are some of the ideas being thrown around by the candidates, and while some remain very popular, all are most definitely absurd.

Book Shelf: Malazan Book of the FallenA friend of mine once told me about a movie series backed by Ted Turner which was set up to be an epic, three-part, 12-hour opus about the American Civil War. It was called Gods and Generals, starring Jeff Daniels and Robert Duvall, and it was canceled after the first 4-hour entry of the trilogy. […]
