Joel Minty
Joel Minty is a man of many funny lists if only he could find time for the source material. As such, his articles are mostly vague memories of the '90s mixed with a fervent love of Nintendos, real-time strategy games, and Futurama. He was the host of You Guessed It! You Can't Unguess It! Futurama Trivia for two years in Toronto, where he was voted "Most Likely to be the Only Person to Host Two Years of Futurama Trivia" – a trophy he covets. Recently Joel has scored a three-book publishing deal with Realmwalker Publishing Group to produce his Imbalance epic fantasy novels. Purge of Ashes, Book One of the Imbalance, will be/was released on April 5, 2016.

Futurama II: The Wrath of KifSo it’s old news that Futurama has been brought back from the dead and has new episodes on the way featuring the entire original cast, but what many people might not know is one critical detail: it’s back on the air this Thursday, June 24 at 10 p.m. EST on Comedy Central. That’s soon. Unfortunately, […]

Mega Man Bosses: Behind the MetalMega Man Bosses: Behind the Metal – Where Are They Now? Mega Man bosses never really die, they just lie around for a while until Dr. Wily fixes them back up again. While he has made plenty of mechanical menaces, his early creations still hold the heaviest spot in his heart – for it was […]

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle ReviewLooking for a game where bloody assassin massacres and cutesy kitten playtime are equal priorities? No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is one of the biggest, and strangest, releases for the Nintendo Wii in the first quarter of 2010. Its predecessor No More Heroes won critical acclaim back in 2008 for its adult themes and […]

Top Ten Characters From 20 Years of The Simpsons: Part TwoBefore the holidays I embarked on the perilous journey of choosing the ten ‘greatest’ Simpsons characters from the show’s last 20 years, not including the principle family itself. Check selections 10 through 6 out here. A perfectly cromulent list thus far, if I do say so myself. The final five are even harder to decide […]

Top Ten Characters from 20 Years of The Simpsons: Part OneWith The Simpsons’ 20-year anniversary having been on December 18th, you would think that I would make two top 10 lists, but alas my list formats were made to be followed and ten is still a perfectly cromulent number. After all, being 20 years old isn’t what makes The Simpsons great, its many instances of […]

Ten Infected Valve Should Include in Left 4 DeadLeft 4 Dead 2 is a game which made me a pretty happy man. There were lots of improvements, and despite a few steps backwards, overall it was a welcome addition to the shelf. One particular aspect most people seem to enjoy is the new infected (playable zombie characters) which include: the Wandering Witch, the Charger, […]

New Super Mario Bros. Wii ReviewDon’t let ME to tell you kids what to like, with your Robert Pattinsons, your iTwitp3pods, and your rock ‘n’ roll noise music, but years before New Super Mario Bros. Wii there was a game called Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo. Now that you’re up to date on decades of fiddling with a Super […]

10 Spore Creations That Would Make Great Movie MonstersUntil recently, I was always impressed with the diversity and ferocity of movie monsters. Monster movies, action, horror – these genres spawned some pretty out-of-this-world and hungry creatures, including xenomorphs from Aliens, colossal crab-praying mantis’ from Cloverfield, and, of course, the giant St. Bernard from The Sandlot. Go back even further and you’ve got classics […]

10 Jobs For Master Chief Upon RetirementCome on, Chief, quit playing Halo and go get a retiree job. 10. Master Chef: Besides the obvious benefits of being able to merely scratch out the i in his identification, after years of singeing and scorching aliens, I’m sure MC has a nose for quality when it comes to cooked meat. And who wouldn’t […]

10 Things I’d Do With Samus’ Power SuitLike, if I bought it or something. Or found it in my garage. 10. Swing to work: No more long walks for me. As long as I live in the shadow of condominiums, I could use my grapple beam like Spider-Man uses webslingers – that is, to hurtle through the city 50 feet up like […]

Gamegasm: Next Gen AliensGame on, man, game on! A few months ago, when I was thinking to myself, “Hey, when are they going to make another game for the movie franchise Aliens?” I found the website http://www2.sega.com/aliens/. For those who haven’t been keeping up with current events, so to speak, a new Aliens: Colonial Marines game was set […]

Castle Vacancy: Mario World 1-1So What Other Castle is the Princess Actually in Anyway? 10. Lego Castle: And who wouldn’t? I mean, face it, Mario, your castle is diminutive and two-dimensional. If she hadn’t bolted, princess would be Princess Hunchback. Lego is 3-D, opposable hand-cups, and you get to choose any assortment of hats you want. Movin’ up! 9. […]

Futurama is Back, BabyYOU READ IT. YOU CAN’T UNREAD IT. The cast of Futurama has officially re-signed for a new 26 episode season. I came across this recent development through my friend Rob Salem, the Toronto Star’s TV critic and my former professor. As expected, the talks have quickly (though not without trepidation, methinks) come to fruition for […]
