Kelvin Harrison Jr. in Chevalier

CONTEST: Win advance screening passes for Chevalier!

Premiering to raves at TIFF 2022, director Stephen William’s Chevalier brings to light the story of a prolific French composer whose accomplishments and true genius were hidden in the pages of history for no other reason than the colour of his skin.

Inspired by the incredible Joseph Bologne (played here by Kelvin Harrison Jr.), the illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, the film follows him from his days as a young musical prodigy through to his ascendency to the court of Marie Antoinette (Lucy Boynton). Rising to improbable heights in Parisian society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer, and honoured as the Chevalier de Saint-Georges, Bologne’s time in rarified company is cut short by an ill-fated love affair and a falling out with the Queen and her inner circle amid the advent of the French Revolution.

Chevalier hits theatres on April 21, but That Shelf and Searchlight Pictures want to send some fans to see an advanced screening on Wednesday, April 19, in either Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver! Check out the trailer below and then scroll down to find out how to enter!
