Enigmatic actor Val Kilmer has passed away at 65. Enigmatic actor Val Kilmer has passed away at 65. Kilmer's daughter Mercedes gave the cause of death as pneumonia.

From his first leading roles in films like Top Secret! and Willow, to his turns as Jim Morrison, Doc Holliday, and Batman, he proved to be a hugely-skilled, charismatic film star across 4 decades of work. He found critical praise and heaps of movie-going fans throughout in both starring and supporting parts, despite health challenges in more recent years.

In 1992, critic Roger Ebert wrote, "if there is an award for the most unsung leading man of his generation, Kilmer should get it". As usual, Ebert was spot on. Kilmer stood out among his contemporaries from the very beginning.
