Into The Badlands is going full-on Mortal Kombat this Sunday. In episode two, titled “Force of Eagle’s Claw,” M.K. (Aramis Knight) looks deep within himself to uncover the mysteries of his past, and he encounters his greatest foe yet: himself in a darker costume. That’s right, while Sunny struggles to escape life as an enslaved garbage miner and the political intrigue between baronies continues to simmer in the Badlands proper, the mystical temple for gifted youngsters is hosting a fighting-game style mirror match in M.K.’s mind.

The choreography here is the high caliber quality you’ve come to expect from Into The Badlands, which executes this fighting game trope with fantastic style. It is also an example of how this second season has evolved to take better advantage of the show’s A+ choreography and actors who do their own stunts, managing to find expressionistic reasons to employ video game references and high flying kung fu. Get excited. Place your bets. It’s MK. versus M.K. on this Sunday’s Into The Badlands.
Into the Badlands airs Sundays at 10:00p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
