The NBA 2K series is one of the most respected franchises in the video game industry. Year after year, 2K Sports’ innovative team raises the bar in the areas of graphics and gameplay, and the final product never disappoints. Each fall, 2K delivers critical and commercial smashes that are the deepest, most refined, and flat-out enjoyable recreations of pro basketball.
The 2K team released the first gameplay trailer for the series’ next entry, NBA 2K20, and it looks stunning. Let’s get right to that trailer…
NBA 2K20 gameplay trailer:
The graphics live up to the series’ insanely high standards. LeBron and AD’s purple and gold jerseys are dazzling. And when Zion throws down the trailer’s first monster jam, I half-expected my desk to rumble. 2K’s attention to detail is second to none – everything from Kawai’s frizzy braids to Kyrie’s killer handle gets rendered to perfection.
But these visual flourishes are only the tip of the iceberg. And beneath the spot-on character renders and breath-taking animations lays a sophisticated basketball simulation. You can spend hours losing yourself tweaking coaching strategies, taking the reigns of a franchise in GM mode, or pursuing a career in My Player. It’s the perfect game for everyone from basketball purists, to those who think Space Jam is the sport’s shining moment.
But damn NBA 2K, would it hurt to give the World Champion Toronto Raptors at lease one highlight in the trailer?
NBA 2K20 synopsis:
This isn’t a game. This is the place the game comes to learn. This is the place the present can’t catch. Where next gets known and the ball decides your fate. From the blacktop to the hardwood and throughout the Neighborhood, NBA 2K20 and its next level features are the closest thing to actually playing in the league.
NBA 2K20 is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch on September 06, 2019.
