The final trailer for J.J. Abrams Star Trek prequel/sequel has hit the web and can be seen on Apple.com. The trailer can also be seen this weekend attached to the much anticipated adapation of Watchmen.
Don’t get me wrong, I think this movie looks good. I just don’t know if it looks like a Star Trek movie to me. Certainly the characters are there— and an attempt has apparently been made to link the film to its predacessors via Eric Bana‘s time-travelling Romulan character from The Next Generation continuity. But it doesn’t really feel like Star Trek to me yet, and maybe it won’t. I grew up on TOS, TNG and DS9, and everything that made those series great seems to have gone out the window, and a more generic Sci-Fi action-adventure has taken its place.
