OK, I know I’m not up on the latest Superman lore, but since when does Clark Kent demand fealty from his subjects during random underground interrogations? Is he even supposed to have subjects? Is this a god thing? I thought he was supposed to be (literally) above all this?

But what do I know? Warner Bros. has released a short clip from Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in which Superman swoops in for a face-to-face chat with Bruce Wayne, who’s a little tied up at the moment, but thanks for asking. Light on detail and big on atmosphere, the clip is as dark and brooding as everything else we’ve seen thus far, with Henry Cavill’s Superman somehow out-sneering Ben Affleck’s Batman even though he isn’t the one in chains.

So what has Superman looking so sour? I have no idea. I’m still wondering why all of these grunts are bowing to him (am I the only one who thinks that’s weird?), and it’ll probably be a while before we have all the answers.

A new (full) trailer is scheduled to air during Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday, December 2. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theatres on March 25.
