Welcome to another minisode of The Shelf – Dork Shelf’s official podcast.
Just in time for the arrival of the Oscar-nominated Arrival on Blu-ray (February 14) we have a fantastic interview with Canadian actor Mark O’Brien, one of the stars of acclaimed sci-fi film. O’Brien, who was born just outside of St. John’s, Newfoundland, has appeared in recurring roles on such shows as Hannibal, Republic of Doyle, and most notably AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire. In Arrival he co-stars as Captain Marks, a quiet army officer who helps Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner’s characters get up to speed on the alien invasion, but whose ultimate intentions are unclear.
Dork Shelf Film Critic Jason Gorber recently sat down with O’Brien to discuss Arrival, how he developed his character Captain Marks, what it was like working with Oscar nominated director Denis Villeneuve, growing up in Newfoundland, and his massive movie collection.
