The Witcher 3 on Switch Plays Better Modded

The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch came out this week and that alone is a technical marvel. One year ago, it isn’t likely we would have imagined such a large game on the Switch, and while it isn’t the best version, it is good.

So when we see videos like this one, of a modded Nintendo Switch running the game better than the stock version, it’s crazy seeing the work modders do. By default, the docked version runs at 720p and 30 frames per second, however, with some work the game is able to run at 60 frames per second and with Dynamic Resolution.

So how is this done? Well, the Switch version is actually a port of the PC version on low settings. That means with some work, the menus on PC become available on Switch after inserting a patch file. It’s a neat solution and only the start of a new project we’ll see more of in the future. While this is all exciting progress, it still isn’t the best way to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, with consoles and PC being the better option.
