Just in time for Comic Con, Yahoo Movies has posted the first look at the new trailer for TRON: Legacy. The film is being directed by Joseph Kosinski and stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde and Michael Sheen.
The plot summary is as follows:
Sam Flynn, the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn, looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant, father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
This trailer looks slick. We get a better glimpse at the new, upgraded Tron universe and get to see how it has evolved. The trailer also gives us a better idea of what Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde’s characters will actually be doing in the film. Most importantly, we get some clear, extended shots of CLU 2 being played by a digitally de-aged Jeff Bridges.
I will say that I wasn’t impressed with the music and the pacing of the trailer though. The teaser trailer’s had a much quicker tempo that was much more involving than the one used in this trailer. I’m nevertheless eager to hear the whole score composed by French house duo Daft Punk. As for the pacing, it just didn’t seem as action packed as the first one, but I will say that the “lightjet” sequence at the end of the trailer was priceless.
TRON: Legacy is out on December 17, 2010.
