Wii Emulator Makes Nintendo Titles Hi-Def

Nintendo corporate brass Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata laugh at the Wii's ability to print money.

With high definition gaming from Nintendo looking increasingly unlikely in this current console generation, some intrepid designers have created a work around. The Wii and GameCube emulator Dolphin allows users to play legally (or illegally) copied Wii and GameCube games on their PC’s.

Although you need some pretty hefty hardware to emulate the games well, Dolphin allows users to run the Wii and GameCube titles in 720p resolution and the results can be pretty spectacular.  Seeing how great Super Smash Bros. Brawl look in HD resolution really makes you wonder why Nintendo opted for a Standard Definition-only approach. The fact that the current iteration of the Wii console  practically prints money for Nintendo had nothing to do with their decision I’m sure.
