The upcoming Lord of the Rings series is shrouded in considerable mystery, but today Prime Video revealed the creative team that will be tackling its much talked about return to Middle-earth.
The show will be helmed by relative newcomers J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay. The writing staff is duly impressive, including the following names: Gennifer Hutchison (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul); Helen Shang (13 Reasons Why, Hannibal), Jason Cahill (Halt and Catch Fire, The Sopranos, ER), Consulting Writers Glenise Mullins, Justin Dohle (Stranger Things, Fringe), Bryan Cogman (Game of Thrones), Stephany Folsom (Toy Story 4).
J. A. Bayona of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom fame will direct the first two episodes. The producing and production team look to be top-notch, including Costume Designer Kate Hawley (Crimson Peak, Edge of Tomorrow).
Tom Shippey will be the team’s resident Tolkien scholar while Illustrator and Concept Artist John Howe makes a return to Middle-earth from the original film trilogy.
