Netflix’s GLOW Gets a Glittering Glam Rock Teaser and Character Posters

Like wrestling? Like 1980s throwbacks? Like the TV comedies in the vein of shows like Orange is the New Black and Nurse Jackie?

If you answered yes to any of those questions then chances are you’ll probably enjoy the new Netflix original series GLOW – short for Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling – a new comedy series inspired by the 1980s women’s wrestling league of the same name. Starring Community‘s Alison Brie and comedian Marc Maron, among others, the series was created by Liz Flahive (Homeland, Nurse Jackie) and Carly Mensch (Nurse Jackie, Orange Is The New Black, Weeds) and is executive produced by OITNB showrunner Jenji Kohan. Based on the premise and the talent involved, it’s safe to say that GLOW has all the makings of the next great Netflix comedy series.

Here’s the official synopsis from Netflix:

GLOW tells the fictional story of Ruth Wilder (Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom when she’s thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women’s wrestling. In addition to working with 12 Hollywood misfits, Ruth also has to compete with Debbie Eagan (Betty Gilpin) a former soap actress who left the business to have a baby, only to be sucked back into work when her picture perfect life is not what it seems. And at the wheel is Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron), a washed-up, B-movie director who now must lead this group of women on the journey to wrestling stardom.
