The first full trailer for the upcoming Star Trek: The Next Generation follow-up series Star Trek: Picard debuted at San Diego Comic-Con this afternoon. In it we have our first look at some new faces and returning favourites – including Brent Spiner’s beloved android Data. Spiner appears to have been digitally de-aged for the project. Androids don’t age, after all!

The Comic-Con panel where the trailer was debuted also featured a surprise appearance from Star Trek: Voyager actor Jeri Ryan, who played the Borg character Seven of Nine, and TNG guest star Jonathan Del Arco, who played the Borg character Hugh. Given the presence of all the former Borg actors it’s a safe bet that the Picard series will somehow address the Enterprise captain’s history with the cybernetic alien race.
Star Trek: Picard was due to premiere at the end of 2019, but it was announced today that it has been pushed to 2020.
