Captain America: The First Avenger Review

If a man in a giant bat costume can be rationalized – intensely and dramatically – then so too can a man named Captain America. The name alone makes my skin crawl; it’s filled with so much camp and pomp. When I imagined what such a film would feel like I thought of Independence Day. With that as my prejudice, this movie had some challenges to overcome in the battle of authenticity versus believability. However, I am happy to report that Captain America: The First Avenger nailed it.

The first full length trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger has hit the web. The Marvel Comics adaptation is being directed by Joe Johnston (The Rocketeer, The Wolfman) and stars Chris Evans as the titular super soldier.

Captain America & the First Thirteen Review

With every comic book movie adaptation, there is a flood of new titles that showcase the soon-to-be silver screen hero. Captain America: The First Avenger will be no different, and in addition to the regular on-going series, this week saw the arrival of three different comics with the star-spangled hero headlining.

Ladies and gentleman, I give you Hugo Weaving's Red Skull from Captain America: The First Avenger. I'm guessing this is a late-in-the-movie uniform, as there's no Nazi symbology. This kind of disappoints me in a weird way; I mean, being a Nazi just adds another level of evil to The Red Skull, don't you think?

New Captain America & Thor Images

Update: Added high resolution versions, plus another Captain Amerca image courtesy of Paramount. Entertainment Weekly has posted two brand-new photos of Captain America and Thor. Both characters are part of the upcoming Avengers film and have respective movies coming out this year.
