The Company You Keep , the latest thriller from actor and director Robert Redford is almost quaint in terms of how unpretentious it is despite subject material and a stacked cast of familiar faces that could have been so much more than this. But it's that smallness that makes it all that much better.
Following an extremely slow DVD release week last week, this week's columnists and Zack Kotzer take on a marginally less slow week with looks at Steven Soderbergh's Haywire , Ti West's The Innkeepers , and the unnecessary sequel/reimagining The Wicker Tree .
The interesting, but flawed Haywire stands out as an anomaly in director Steven Soderbergh's recent filmography. It’s a straight up revenge film unconcerned with further reaching implications, but dripping with sexuality and action.
