Hot Docs 2015: Tig Notaro Interview

When Tig Notaro went onstage at Largo’s in LA after an Annus horribilis that was crammed into a few months, her life and her career changed forever. Tig documents the comedian’s journey following this remarkable comedy set, where a series of jokes about life, love and cancer left an audience stunned and some of the best entertainers in the world calling it a masterpiece.

After this much lauded moving and revealing gig, Notaro allowed filmmakers Kristina Goolsby and Ashley York access into some of her most intimate and difficult moments. From hospital bed to the jitters as she climbs back on stage, fans and newcomers alike are granted access to a remarkable entertainer coming to terms not only with the slings that life throws her way but with her own choices that rarely seem to be the easy ones to make.

Dork Shelf had the pleasure of speaking with Ms. Notaro when she was in Toronto for the opening of this year’s Hot Docs film festival where her film played to a boisterous and enthusiastic crowd.
