Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) is an out of work, twenty-something living in Toronto. He’s getting by though, Scott is in a rock band and he just started dating a girl in high school; things could be worse. However, Scott’s life is turned upside when he falls in love with a delivery girl name Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). Unfortunately for Scott, Ramona happens to have seven evil exes that really have it in for anyone who wants to go out with her. Scott must defeat these exes in order to win Ramona’s heart and his precious little life.
The film is set in Toronto, and was actually shot here last year. Wright, who is best known for the awesome Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz really seems to have nailed the tone of the graphic novels; complete with video game homages, insane action and TTC buses. Yes, Michael Cera seems to be playing the same part he always plays, but Scott Pilgrim is the role he was born to play!
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is due in theatres August 13th 2010.
