Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Review

A slight step above its rather silly predecessor, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes decides to go the deathly serious route instead of keeping things light and fun with decidedly mixed results.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Review

While dividing Tolkien's most childish and thinnest material into three films seems like a strange decision, Peter Jackson makes it mostly work with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which still manages to be a lot of fun. That new high-frame rate 3D? Not so much.

Interview: Richard Armitage

We talk to the lucky actor to get the high profile role of Thorin Oakenshield in Peter Jackson's kick off to The Hobbit trilogy, British actor Richard Armitage about working with Jackson, being on set in Middle Earth while being a huge Tolkien fan, and Andy Serkis asking the actor to go the extra mile for gritty realism.

It has been a derivative year for games. But it’s also been a great year for games. Old material doesn’t mean a bad game, and even when titles like Darksiders were dramatically close to plagiarism, they remain some of the most enjoyable entries this year. Ninja Theory’s Enslaved is an ‘adaptation’ of one of China’s earliest exports: fables. Specifically the Journey to the West, but I would argue that it’s a more accurate ‘adaptation’ of Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia series. Even if it’s monkey see monkey do, does this monkey shine?
