Tintin is not just a comic series; for many, it's a religion. The Adventures of Tintin has been in works for a while, and finally we have a trailer. With Steven Spielberg directing, Peter Jackson producing, Edgar Wright, Steven Moffat & Joe Cornish writing, and Jamie Bell, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg (among others) acting, I have high hopes for this film.
The masterful cinematic combination of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost have oodles of talent on their own; but bring the three of them together, and they hit a whole new level of brilliance. Separate the trio, and while the work is still very good, it doesn’t quite reach the same peak. Scott Pilgrim is one example of this; and now Paul is another. Not a great film, but a very good one.
The latest episode of the ongoing web-series The Rep is now online. The series documents the trials and tribulations of our friends at the Toronto Underground Cinema. Episode 4 concludes the events of the previous episode – Charlie, Nigel, Alex and Peter continue to prep the theatre for The Wright Stuff, while anxiously awaiting the arrival of director Edgar Wright

Thus far this month Dork Shelf has featured several reviews of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World–you can check them out here. And here. These are excellent reviews, from the non-biased perspectives of writers who were not steeped in the books before watching the movie. This review is the opposite of that. I’ve been reading, collecting, […]
I won’t lie, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was practically made for this site. It’s a film adaptation of a video game inspired comic book that is not only set in Toronto, but was filmed here too. We cut our teeth covering various aspects of the film’s casting and production. So—despite the fact I’ve only […]
Last week the Dork Shelf crew hit the red carpet at the Winter Garden for the Toronto premiere of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. There we had a chance to talk with director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley and the cast, including Jason Schwartzman, Mary Elizabeth […]
While shooting Scott Pilgrim vs. The World in our fair city last year, director Edgar Wright made Toronto his home. When Wright wasn’t busy making his movie—which wasn’t often—he was engaging with the local film community. On several occasions he curated his Wright Stuff film series at a local movie house that shall remain nameless. […]
Fantasia 2010 Review Last night I dared to say on Twitter that, after seeing Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, director Edgar Wright is on his way to gaining status as an auteur. This sparked a lively debate among friends on whether this was true, or even what the definition is of an auteur. To my […]
The full length international trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World recently hit the net. This trailer, which is a vast improvement on the domestic one released last month, gives us a much clearer picture of the tone that Edgar Wright’s comic book adaptation is trying to strike. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is based […]
When the producers of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World promised they would release the new trailer for the film if the official Facebook page reached over 100,000 “Likes”, I don’t think they anticipated such a quick response. In just a few days the viral campaign reached its goal and as promised the new trailer was […]
Anyone who has walked down Spadina Avenue near Queen Street has probably noticed that mysterious Golden Classics sign. I knew that there had once been a movie theatre at 186 Spadina Avenue, I just didn’t know if the space still existed. The 700+ seat cinema, first known as the Golden Harvest and later as the […]
The first trailer for Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World has hit the web. Based on the graphic novels of Canadian cartoonist Bryan Lee O’Malley, Scott Pilgrim stars Michael Cera as the eponymous slacker/hero. Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) is an out of work, twenty-something living in Toronto. He’s getting by though, Scott is in […]
The first behind-the-scenes video blog for Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World has been posted on the film’s official site. Director Edgar Wright gives a tour of the studio as the cast practices fight choreography. Scott Pilgrim is based on the eponymous series of graphic novels and is currently filming in Toronto. Also, since Edgar Wright […]
