I didn't really have any lofty hopes for TRON: Legacy. My generation missed the bandwagon for sci-fi action adventure movies that dominated theatres in the late 70s and early 80s. I was unburdened by childhood nostalgia, the only thing that had skewed my expectations about the film was the monstrous marketing campaign that Disney employed. This sequel - that nobody ever really asked for - is worth seeing, but only if you plan to watch it in 3D in a giant theatre with a killer sound system.
The 1982 original TRON film evokes some very specific imagery. Recognizer tanks zooming by in defiance of the laws of aerodynamics, lightcycles racing through the city leaving behind light trails, and above all else neon reds and blues crisscrossing against a sleek digital world. These still form the basis of the re-imagined world spearheaded by the film TRON: Legacy, but as we found out, the tie-in video game TRON: Evolution goes a bit further.
Disney has unveiled the final theatrical trailer for the upcoming TRON: Legacy. Like the previous trailers for the film this one is a visual treat, but what makes this one different is that it finally reveals the plot of the film. TRON: Legacy stars Garrett Hedlund as Sam Flynn — son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) from the 1982 TRON — who must travel to the digital world to find his father who has been missing for 25 years.
We had a chance to chat with Terra Hazelton and Andy Sparacino, two of the stars of Fubar 2. Hazelton plays Trish, a strip club waitress with a heart of gold and Terry's love interest. Those familiar with the first Fubar film will know Sparacino — who played Terry and Dean's old friend and "party leader" Tron — a role that he reprises in the sequel. We talk Fubar 2, music, LARPing and World of Warcraft, and even have enough time to shotgun a few beers.
Marvel.com has posted a four page preview of their upcoming graphic novel tie-in to the highly-anticipated TRON: Legacy film out this December. The story of TRON: Betrayal acts as a bridge between the original 1982 film and the upcoming film. The comic introduces the reader to some of the upcoming heroes and villains from the […]
