The first trailer for the Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind) directed, Seth Rogen starring adaptation of The Green Hornet has hit the web. The trailer makes the film look like a pretty generic action-comedy, but knowing Gondry, he probably has a few tricks up his sleeve.

Seth Rogen still seems a bit out of sorts to me, but I think he was an interesting choice for the role of Britt Reid. Jay Chou has his work cut out for him as Kato; the guy is stepping into a role made famous by Bruce Lee. The film was allegedly plagued with production difficulties, reshoots and a disagreement between the studio and director over the first cut of the movie; Sony was reportedly very unhappy with the “campy tone” that is Gondry going for. I’m hoping that the campiness makes the cut and that this trailer is some sort of elaborate ruse by Sony, trying to sell the film as something that it’s not for mass market appeal.
