Pisces’ are the dreamers of the Zodiac, full of intense emotions, they are attuned to vibes that can’t be seen with just your eyes. Pisces are also healers, the shoulders you want to cry on. So expect Pisces season to bring on EMOTIONS (all caps)!

Director Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water, last year’s Oscar winner for Best Picture, is possibly the most Pisces movie ever made. Sally Hawkins’ character, Elisa, literally falls in love with a fish. To be fair, he is a humanoid fish, and sexy, as far as fish go. In the end of the film, Elisa saves Fishman and the lovers escape together into the Ocean, to live happily ever after. Or do they? It definitely takes a Piscean level of romanticism to believe that Elisa lives on happily, together with her fish, under all that water.

The beautiful Belgian melodrama The Broken Circle Breakdown is the film equivalent of a country song. The film follows an intense couple, Didier (Johan Heldenbergh) and Elise (Veerle Baetens), as they meet, fall in love, form a bluegrass band, then ultimately have and lose their only child. If feeling strong emotions is the hallmark of Pisces energy then this movie will throw you in the deep end. Make sure you have a lot of tissues on hand and then download the brilliant bluegrass soundtrack. *Warning: the film contains a depiction of suicide

Kasi Lemmons’ stunning directorial debut Eve’s Bayou is a meditation on memory and loss of innocence. The film’s dreamy style mirrors a mind grasping for memories. It’s a Southern Gothic with touches of magical realism so it’s no surprise that writer/director Lemmons is herself is a Pisces. The story follows 10-year-old Eve, who lives in 60s era Louisiana with her affluent parents and two siblings. Eve recalls, in voice over, the summer her father dies. The movie has amazing Piscean touches like Eve’s aunt, Mozelle, who is a psychic and cursed to have all her husbands die. One of husbands is even killed by another of her lovers. The movie warns of the dangers of extreme emotional reactions. All you fish folk, take note.

The entirety of the fantasy genre is made for the imaginative Pisces, but The NeverEnding Story is a textbook example. Young, sensitive Bastian (Barret Oliver) escapes from bullies and a disapproving father into the fantasy world of books, specifically, the titular NeverEnding Story. His desire to be a part of the fantasy world, called Fantasia, is so intense he literally wills himself into the story. Fantasia is plagued by a mysterious affliction called The Nothing, created by broken dreams and hopeless fantasies. Bastian realizes only he is the key to saving Fantasia. Good ol’ Pisces, always wanting to rescue to us all.

Poetic Justice follows a young woman, Justice (Janet Jackson), grieving the recent death of her boyfriend due to gun violence. In dramatic Pisces fashion, Justice has given up on love, finding it too painful to deal with the loss. She is basically the template for a Pisces woman and even expresses herself through poetry (which was written by Maya Angelou). Justice, of course, opens herself up to love again with a mail man played by Tupac Shakur.

Writer-director Adrienne Shelley’s light-as-air dramedy Waitress is about – you guessed it – a small town waitress, Jenna (Keri Russell), who pours all her emotions into her magically tasty pies. This film shows the benefits of having imaginative Pisces energy through Jenna, who channels her intense emotions into a creative outlet that flourishes and she is able to eventually leave her lout of a husband. The film has recently been turned into a popular Broadway musical.

The infamous anti-hero of Martin Scorsese’s 1976 film Taxi Driver redefined the saviour complex, which can be a problem with the Pisces nature. Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro) is the dark side of the Pisces energy, as he tries to create his own fantasy world starring himself as the hero, with shockingly violent outcomes.

Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze star as devoted lovers in Ghost. Sam and Molly are torn apart when Sam is murdered, but Demi is a true Pisces women. With some help from a reluctant psychic (Whoopi Goldberg), she won’t let something as pesky as Sam’s untimely death separate her from her lover. Only a Pisces could love a man so much that even death isn’t a deterrent.

Carrie White is a great example why you don’t mess with a Pisces. Poor Carrie (Sissy Spacek), the titular character in the Brian De Palma horror classic, just wanted what any teenage Pisces wants: the perfect Prom night complete with handsome Prince! It’s not her fault a cruel joke, played on her by the class bully, triggered her latent telekinesis powers! Her intense emotions manifest and literally set the school on fire, killing everyone inside. Pisces y’all!

In Mermaids, Cher’s shines as Mrs. Flax, and it’s not hard to spot the Piscean influences. I mean the movie is called Mermaids and Cher has a fish tail in the promos. Mrs Flax is the ultimate Pisces woman and represents their best and worst aspects. She has the imaginative and romantic side (dancing in the kitchen! Finger foods! Many, many ex-lovers!) but also the Pisces weakness of running away or giving up when things get hard (Mrs Flax moves the family every time one of her love affairs end). In true Pisces form, she eventually finds love with a dependable shopkeeper (Bob Hoskins).
