The first trailer for the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian is now online after being showed at the D23 Expo earlier today. Footage from the series was first shown at Star Wars Celebration earlier this year, but beyond some leaked footage this is the first good look we’re getting at the Jon Favreau helmed series starring Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) as the titular bounty hunter.
Watch the first trailer below:
Set after the events of Return of the Jedi, The Mandalorian also features Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Taika Waititi and – and this will never not blow our minds – filmmaker and sometimes actor Werner Herzog. Ostensibly a space western, the series will follow a lone gunfighter very much in the mold of Clint Eastwood’s iconic Man with No Name as he travels the Outer Rim after the fall of the Empire. It was also announced at D23 that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Ming-Na Wen will also be joining the series in an as-yet-unnamed role.
In other Star Wars Disney+ news, the House of Mouse also confirmed that the rumoured Obi-Wan Kenobi series is on its way and that actor Ewan McGregor will be reprising the role of the Jedi Master. That series will begin shooting in 2020 and will be set between the events of Solo: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: A New Hope.

Say what you will about the Prequels, McGregor was always a highlight of those movies and we’ll be glad to see him dust of his Jedi robes.
The Mandalorian will premiere on Disney+ on November 12, 2019 and the untitled Obi-Wan series some time in 2020 or 2021.
