Disney+ Announces Canadian Launch Date & Pricing

Can Disney+ Capture the Streaming Service Crown?

One of the biggest names in entertainment will step into the ring this November to battle Netflix and Amazon in the 2019 streaming wars. Today, Disney announced that their new streaming service, Disney+, will arrive in Canada on November 12th. And the most exciting part of the news is the streaming service’s price point. Disney+ will cost Canadians $8.99CAD per month (or $89.99 per year).

Disney’s new service has the potential to shake up the streaming marketplace. First off, Disney will open their massive content vault and offer customer’s access to their Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, Nat Geo, and Disney content libraries. That means your hard-earned $8.99 offers access to Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and the original The Lion King. Conversely, titles like Avengers and Star Wars will no longer be available on Disney competitors like Netflix.

Another of the service’s perks is their original content. Disney already has new live-action Star Wars and MCU TV series in production. That $8.99 monthly subscription will net you access to much-hyped shows like The Mandalorian, a Tom Hiddleston Loki series, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier (starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan).

U.S. subscribers have the option of an upgraded bundle that includes Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu for just $12.99USD.
