Anthony Mackie
All The Way doesn't go far enough in its depiction of civil rights struggles, but it does provide Bryan Cranston with an opportunity to act the hell out of America's oddest president.
Captain America: Civil War Review
Captain America: Civil War doesn't highlight the differences between Cap and Tony Stark as much as it creates them, but at least it does so in a somewhat intelligent way”¦ until all the good guys have to fight each other.

Drugs, alcohol, and bromance abound in this hilarious holiday comedy with a surprising amount of heart.

Black or White Review
Despite always threatening to go off the rails, the custody drama Black or White stays on assured footing.
TIFF 2014: Black and White Review
Black and White Gala Kevin Costner reteams with filmmaker Mike Binder ( The Upside of Anger , Reign Over Me ) for an “inspired by true events” custody battle between members of an extended mixed race family. It’s every bit as manipulative as it sounds, but it works more often than it fails. Alcoholic lawyer […]
Captain America: The Winter Soldier Review
Delivering a good stand alone story and not getting too far bogged down in Avengers mythology, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a great follow-up to one of the best films Marvel Studios has produced to date.
The Fifth Estate Review
Although it gets off to a pretty rough start and is a bit overstuffed, Bill Condon’s somewhat fictionalized ”inside WikiLeaks” drama The Fifth Estate manages to generate some thrills once it gets the dynamics of the larger than life characters out of the way.
Runner Runner Review
The tepid potboiler Runner Runner is so dull and hopelessly cliched the only reaction one can really give it is a raised eyebrow and a facial expression that says "Really? That's it?"
Pain & Gain Review
Welcome to Michael Bay’s American dream. The world of the thoroughly batshit insane and coal black comedy Pain & Gain is one of dreamers who are willing to cause abject nightmares to those around them to achieve their ends, and there’s no better vulgar auteurist capable of bringing this South Florida sleaze-fest to the big screen than Bay.
Gangster Squad Review
It's not much more than pulpy, violent gangster entertainment, but Gangster Squad is a blending of old timey conventions with modern filmmaking techniques that makes for major studio B-movie goodness that should be praised rather than condemned.
Man on a Ledge Review
Ostensibly a cross between Inside Man and The Negotiator with a healthy dose of Michael Bay style ridiculousness, Man on a Ledge might be the most fun to be had in cinemas this January. It’s an unabashed crowd pleaser that really doesn’t care that it doesn’t make an iota of logical sense.
Real Steel Review
It might seem hard to believe that the guy who made the remakes of Cheaper by the Dozen and The Pink Panther got something incredibly right, but he honestly knocks his latest film, Real Steel , out of the park. Shawn Levy gets right what Michael Bay has gotten wrong over the course of three straight Transformers films. Real Steel is a gratifying and visually stylish blend of high end special effects and a lowbrow, meat-headed story. Most importantly, Levy and his team of writers keep things simple by applying the standard sports movie template to a film about robots beating the snot out of each other.
