No one seems to be quite themselves in this week’s episode of True Blood, 'Spellbound’. Picking up where we left off last week, Jessica is under the witches’ spell and is about to walk out into the sun to meet her true death. It didn’t even occur to me last week that Ball might have the balls to kill off a character and even though I like Jessica, I secretly wanted to see her go up in flames because it's pretty cool.
Just the other day I was contemplating the current television landscape when it occurred to me that — save for Game of Thrones — there just isn't enough incest on cable. Looks like Alan Ball agrees because family lovin' seems to be the theme of the latest episode of True Blood called 'I'm Alive and On Fire'.
The thing I really love about True Blood is that it's not only entertaining, it's also educational. In this week's episode 'If You Love Me,Then Why Am I Dyin' we learned that entrapment doesn't count as a defense in Vampire law, Mexico makes the best viagra and virtually any relationship problem can be solved with hypnosis. All valuable lessons that can be applied to our everyday lives.
True Blood is the kind of show that when mentioned, can either elicit squeals or groans. Despite my love of it, it's the kind of show I often find myself making excuses for. However, after being blown away by last night's season four premiere I've decided to never again be ashamed of my love of True Blood. Your favourite gap-toothed, fang-banging waitress is back and already it's shaping up to be a bad-ass season, fairies and all.
