Over the last few weeks we’ve conducted a series of whirlwind journeys of our own to explore the wonder world of Wildwood. From the streets of Portland to the splashy premiere in London, it’s been a wonderful ride getting to know personally the talent behind this incredible achievement.
The film is extraordinary, and while there are real headwinds about how it’ll perform with today’s general cinemagoing public, this is destined to be a formative film for those willing to take a chance. As a celebration of craft and tenacity it’s peerless, but overall it’s the depth of the story, the impact of the visuals and the remarkable technological and artistic breakthroughs that make this easily one of the great films of this or any year.
First up for our selected videos, here’s our review of the film following its World Premiere at the BFI London Film Festival.
Next is our look back at the set visit where we got to see behind the scenes of the making of this remarkable film (more on that visit here).
Here is our interview with Travis Knight, the CEO of Laika and the producer/director of this multi-year project:
This is our in-depth discussion with the creative team behind the film, including Brad Schiff (Animation Supervisor) , Nelson Lowry (Production Designer), Deb Cook (Costume Designer) and Ollie Jones (Head of Character and Practical FX), about their years long journey to bring this story to life.
And, finally, our chat with Peyton Elizabeth Lee who gives voice to the film’s lead character Prue.
Wildwood opens in theatres on October 23, 2026.
